The Heavy Blow Part 2

May9

On getting there, nasty tired night nurses welcome us with scorn and disdain

We took it all in good stride

My body was getting cold.

My vitals, pulse and veins had disappeared.

I was weak from so much pain and discomfort

Why did you wait this long? The Doctors asked?

“The Vigiante wouldn’t allow us leave our vicinity” we said

I ‘m sorry but it’s a 50-50 chance of survival

I didn’t even have much energy to argue or fear

I cried and shouted!

…to be continued

My Friendliest Friend

February14

Its the 14th of February again
We are almost two years in age
Yet, stronger we become
Refining ourselves always
Like old fine wine

My friendliest friend
In you I find true love
You are a companion and friend
You make me devoted and strong
You always bring out the best in me

It takes a whole lot

To be my lover

At same time my confidant

Also my brother and father
When I lack either

Saying I appreciate you
Is too generic
And simple
To explain
My complicated love for you

My love is only complicated
Cos there are so many roles
You play
And so many gaps
You fill

Thank you
Love you
Peck you
Kiss you
Hug you, today and forever

Yours Penfully

Our dear Pastor

Cool

Composed

Reserved

Collected

Unruffled

Our dear pastor

In speech

In mannerism

In approach

In conduct

You have always been an inspiration

Our dear Pastor

Such a help you are to us

In you we see love

In you we see simplicity

In you we see gentleness

In you we see humility

You are a shining star of hope

In a vast land of illusion

You’ve inspired us all to be better

We are blessed to have you

Thanks I say

Many thanks we all say!

A woman of Dignity

To some a friend

To others a sister

To another a mentor

To me a mentor

To us all a great leader

To a gem, I hail

I salute your courage

I love your dedication

I applaud your loyalty

I commend your determination

And I rejoice at your edification

At this opportunity I speak

Will I be giving another?

I never know

So I bare my thoughts

Once and always

In many ways

You’ve been a pillar

Shaping our minds

Building our spirit

A worthy emulation

To me and to us all

Oblivious was I of your depth in wisdom

Had I known

I would have hurried earlier

For a hand of friendship

A hand of worthy mentorship

I hail

She hails

He hails

We all hail

We all say THANK YOU.

Thank you for loving us

Thank you for giving all

Thank you for your labor

Thank you for your service

We remain eternally grateful

May it not be a Wishy Washy Wednesday!

It may have been a dry day

Nothing special truly happened

Even though you wished that much

Nevertheless, grateful we should always be

For tomorrow holds a chance to be greater

Living in Lagos Nigeria

Many lessons have I learnt

The good, the bad, the ugly

How so, I do not know

But positivism will I forever hold

Twenty Years

September19

We are twenty years, and we stink

Smelly, Foul and slammy

Old as ancient

Rickety like an old battered vehicle

Twenty years we stuck together

Hoping to build a world together

The castle that will last forever

Until forever became never

We fought always

Played and laughed

We made moment counts

Forgiving was a tradition

But now, you hold on to yesterday like a bad memory

You recite my wrongs like nursery rhythms

You call a party to announce my weaknesses

Yet, you yearn for what we had in earnest

I have forgiven and am trying to forget

But let us leave yesterday and hold on to a new day

Friendship with you maybe a thing of the past

But let us refuse to act like the die is cast

ALL I WANT

July5

All you want me to do is what I do

All your need is all I look after

I obey your every letter

I be the best for you the best way I know how

Then you tell me I don’t please you

You tell me I am not enough yet you can’t go

I feel less of myself when you talk

We smile but only to show others we are getting along

Down on my sick bed, every one cared except you

When I talk you shut me down

Like brains only lies with men

Am a woman

I have strength and dignity

I have brains

Am smart

Though my keyboard maybe wet typing this

I know my tomorrow is illuminated

Birthday Girl

April20

Hello,

My names are Ayodele Kofoworola Otujinrin and my birthday was a few days ago!

I am from a small but closely knit family. I am a gifted writer who fortunately is smart enough to be making a living from my God-given gift. You see, I develop engaging contents for our Clients that keep their online conversations exciting, stimulating and pulsing. However, I didn’t start writing officially till 2009 after I had tried my hands at Above-The-Line advertising.  Writing is my passion. With my pen, I can escape the realities of life and create a pseudo one where everything is perfect. I can express myself without restraint and relieve myself of the unavoidable stresses of life. I share my emotions and feelings with others through my pen/PC and converse with them through my blog:  http://www.ayallen.com/ Its a world of me and my writings where my pen/PC serve as the voice of my emotions and nothing else exists. Along with writing I also have a flair for event management which I practiced for a few years.

I like to believe that am the perfect definition of beauty and brains. I love everything fuschia Pink and it is evident in all I own. The most memorable day of my life was when I completely gave my heart to my best friend and words are not enough to describe the feelings.

I am a simple but fabulous individual and a great fan of R&B. I do not compromise on integrity and I absolutely abhor dishonesty in any form.

I do not know what links I may have with the Italians but pasta may be one of them. I loooove my spaghetti and of course, with plenty dodo! I am dedicated to work, a fast learner and I love to celebrate accomplishments, no matter how small. Hm! Something I definitely need to work on is Procrastination, my only identifiable weakness for now.

All my loveys: Life – I believe it’s a privilege to be alive and well; God – Ever grateful to Him for my existence; DraftFCB Interactive – Can’t thank you enough for the opportunity to put my skills to good use and learn about the latest trend in digital advertising working as part of a team of highly intellectually stimulating individuals.

Heaven Please Listen

March12

Winter storms have come

So has my challenges

No words, no Songs

My Fire, vanished

Caressed by worldly desires

Who on earth can I turn to?

My breath has lost its crux

Defeat is calling

Please let tomorrow be significant

Feels like hope has gone on a never ending journey!!!

CROSSROAD

January31

I will carry my cross

Am saying I will carry my hurts

Right on my hind

Though the weight may kill

I will carry my cross still

I will take it to the table

Of the one that can make me stable

To the mighty Judge

The one I call Friend

I will carry it all to him to end

The Nigerian Factor

December7

The Odor of this age

The stench of degradation

Smells and covers our right thinking

We curse and complain

Throwing tantrums and peevishness

All remains the same

Today we condemn the thief

Tomorrow we befriend the thief

We celebrate and party

We burst out in laughter and smiles

Yet the smile is not from within

And with time it rust and decays

Here is an opportunity, we race to it

Tables turn and we race back to zero

A confused army

Without a leader

Without rules

Without laws

This abyss

They come with wide grins and empty promises

They give us hope only to snatch it again

And the pain is rekindled

It’s the Nigerian Factor

Its you and its me.

Gone!!!

October17

Sad to say

Sadder to Feel

Saddest to Know

A painful meal

Forced down my belly

Before I had a choice to say no

The savor

May I never again swallow

Father, Daddy, Dad,

I call you but hear the wind speed

I try to reach for you but grab emptiness

This experience was too short-lived

My off springs you never got to see

They never got to call you granny

Only to be told stories by their nannies

I refuse to accept that you are departed

Certainly another day with you is a fantasy

Surely I can’t hope for an embrace or hug

Should I take solace?

Should I be comforted?

Adeiu, is not enough to say

Farewell makes the reality harder

Goodbye makes me wail

Would we really see again?

Shhhhh!

June17

Glassy eyes in tears

A dismay no one can ear

This trouble

I cannot bear

Living with a family

Not by blood

Happy and satisfied

Not at all

Resigned to faith

And desperate

Carrying along

Without hate

Come to my bed

I said no

I like your skin

I said oh!

Come please come

I said no

I will go to your mistress

I said go

Caught in the lobby

I shouted help

Stripped till naked

I shouted please

Pained and raped

In the morning

Bawd and whored

In the night
