Screaming “Help Me” Helppppppp meeeee

Be patient woman one of the nasty ones said

I was to hurt to hurt

Finally the time came to enter the surgical theatre

On a good day, fear would have crippled me

But there I went in, all confident that my God will see me through

Families at my side holding my hands

Praying it wouldn’t be for the last time

The pain had covered my thinking

I couldn’t even catch a proper glimpse of my environment

On getting inside I asked, Doctor can you please make me sleep throughout the process

The Doctors replied but of course

You have nothing to worry about maam

I waited patiently while they talked and conversed

The room was filled with almost ten able bodied men and other nurses

I couldn’t wait for the surgery to begin

The usual me, would have thought everything through but it just seem like a bad dream

He said to me, madam we are going to give you something to help with the pain

I said thanks, have been waiting

That was the last I heard or saw of the place

Next I started dreaming of beautiful place with sunset and flowers

It was a short dream

Later opened my eyes to see myself in a small room

I was plugged to a big machine as well as blood and drips

I was to dry and tried to talk

I saw mine, then my dad and mum

I smiled I asked in signs what the doctor said

They said all was fine

I said I had two before going in,

Do I still have two or I just have one left

They said they removed the one that was disturbing me and left one in my stomach

Relish flushed in, I slept again

They kept checking on, I was ok I kept saying

The pain in my stomach I asked, it will go they said

I slept still

We took it all in good stride

My body was getting cold.

My vitals, pulse and veins had disappeared.

I was weak from so much pain and discomfort

Why did you wait this long? The Doctors asked?

“The Vigiante wouldn’t allow us leave our vicinity” we said

I ‘m sorry but it’s a 50-50 chance of survival

I didn’t even have much energy to argue or fear

I cried and shouted!

Yee! I shouted

It was just after an exciting run with my man

I felt it was hunger and he rushed to get me dinner

Dinner was served but too late paralysis had hit me

I couldn’t move any part of my body

I was in acute pain

My stomach was aching like I had knives plunged into it

My lower abdomen was fighting back with pain

I still felt it was “maybe” just cramps

Naïve me, I requested for a glass of milk

Pain continued more intense and painful has time went

7 hours had passed by and there was no relieve

I was rushed to the emergency ward

Its the 14th of February again
We are almost two years in age
Yet, stronger we become
Refining ourselves always
Like old fine wine

My friendliest friend
In you I find true love
You are a companion and friend
You make me devoted and strong
You always bring out the best in me

It takes a whole lot

To be my lover

At same time my confidant

Also my brother and father
When I lack either

Saying I appreciate you
Is too generic
And simple
To explain
My complicated love for you

My love is only complicated
Cos there are so many roles
You play
And so many gaps
You fill

It may have been a dry day

Nothing special truly happened

Even though you wished that much

Nevertheless, grateful we should always be

For tomorrow holds a chance to be greater

Living in Lagos Nigeria

Many lessons have I learnt

The good, the bad, the ugly

How so, I do not know

But positivism will I forever hold

I want Mar and Venus and Jupiter

I want to hold the cloud in my arms and feel its silk

I want power, life, health and affluence

I want comfort, ease and fun

I want my today yesterday

And I want my tomorrow this instant

I want to walk on water and fly like a bird…

We are twenty years, and we stink

Smelly, Foul and slammy

Old as ancient

Rickety like an old battered vehicle

Twenty years we stuck together

Hoping to build a world together

The castle that will last forever

Until forever became never

We fought always

Played and laughed

We made moment counts

Forgiving was a tradition

But now, you hold on to yesterday like a bad memory

You recite my wrongs like nursery rhythms

You call a party to announce my weaknesses

Yet, you yearn for what we had in earnest

I have forgiven and am trying to forget

But let us leave yesterday and hold on to a new day

Friendship with you maybe a thing of the past

But let us refuse to act like the die is cast

Never be greedy, never put anyone down to go up, never forget where you are coming from.
